I saw a “Regard ring” in February’s issue of Lucky and I immediately fell in love. A romantic ring that became popular in the Victorian era, “regard” is an acronym for the six stones used to create the ring – Ruby, Emerald, Garnet, Amethyst, Ruby, Diamond.
After looking for some regard rings, I found that “Dearest rings” were also made – Diamond, Emerald, Amethyst, Ruby, Emerald, Sapphire, Topaz.
Apparently, acrostic jewelry became popular during the Victorian era, and they would even use stones to represent names. Sarah – Sapphire, Amethyst, Ruby, Aquamarine, Hessonite garnet.
Such a sweet sentiment, and I love how vintage it is!
I want one!
